Plastic Surgery(Japanese public insurance-covered medical treatment)
Breast reconstruction
We offer optimal reconstruction methods tailored to each patient's condition and preferences following a mastectomy. Our goal is to restore body image, rebuild confidence, and support a better quality of life.
Our clinic is certified by the Japan Oncoplastic Breast Surgery Society to perform breast reconstruction using implants covered by health insurance. For autologous tissue reconstruction requiring hospitalization, we collaborate with Okinawa Prefectural Nanbu Medical Center.
Blepharoptosis (Drooping Eyelids)
If you experience any of the following symptoms, you may have blepharoptosis.
- You are often told that you always look sleepy.
- When you open your eyes, wrinkles form on your forehead.
- You feel that your eyelids are heavy and sagging.
- The crease of your double eyelids has become wider than before, or you have developed multiple double eyelid lines.
- Your eyes have started to become sunken.
- The distance between your eyebrows and eyelashes is wide or has widened.
- Your eyes have become smaller compared to earlier photos.
- There is a difference in size between your eyes. It is difficult for you to look up at traffic signals while driving.
- You are often told to “tuck your chin” during photo shoots.
Also, headaches, shoulder stiffness, insomnia, and chronic fatigue may be caused by blepharoptosis.
The optimal surgical method is determined based on the degree of blepharoptosis. For adults, a one-day operation performed under local anesthesia is possible, regardless of the cause of blepharoptosis, and is covered by health insurance.
Lumps
The most common cases we treat at our clinic are skin and subcutaneous "lumps."
The causes of these lumps vary widely, including epidermal cysts, lipomas, calcifying epithelial tumors, neurofibromas, hemangiomas, and more. They can occur anywhere on the body, from head to toe. Therefore, we narrow down the possible diagnoses through patient history, physical examination, and ultrasound, and then determine the most appropriate surgical method to achieve the best outcome. In some cases, a biopsy may be performed to confirm the diagnosis. Most types of lumps that develop throughout the body do not resolve independently. They may gradually increase in size and occasionally become infected, causing severe pain. We recommend an early consultation if you notice lumps to ensure precise treatment with minimal scarring.
Moles / Birthmarks
Treatment of moles and wart-like growths
Outline of Operation
At our clinic, moles are treated by excision or carbon dioxide (CO2) laser ablation.
The physician will determine whether or not the treatment is covered by health insurance. In rare cases, what appears to be a mole may actually be skin cancer, so a biopsy will be performed. Additionally, some treatments may not be covered by insurance and will require self-payment, so please understand this in advance.
For self-pay treatment during the initial consultation, the fees (including tax) are as follows: The initial consultation fee is 3,300 JPY. In the case of excision, the cost is 33,000 JPY for the first mole and 22,000 JPY for each additional mole. For carbon dioxide (CO2) laser treatment, the basic treatment fee, including anesthetic cream, is 3,300 JPY. Additional charges for oral and topical medications may apply.
Please note that laser treatments for wart-like growths are generally considered self-pay treatments.
There are also various types of congenital “birthmarks.” We will diagnose these based on factors such as location, size, color, and surface texture, and then explain the appropriate treatment options.
Course of Operation
The excision of moles is performed after local anesthesia, while laser treatment involves applying an anesthetic cream and waiting for 40 minutes before the laser is applied. After the treatment, a wound dressing or an antibiotic-containing ointment is applied.
Points to Note after Treatment
Please do not remove the wound dressing until your next appointment. If it comes off, please use the ointment provided by us to prevent infection. We remove the stitches one week after surgery. Additionally, taping the wound and taking measures against UV exposure after the removal of stitches are crucial for a good aesthetic outcome.
If there is a recurrence within six months of the initial carbon dioxide (CO2) laser treatment, we will perform a repeat laser treatment for the cost of the follow-up consultation fee only.
Scars / Keloids
Scar revision
Outline of Operation
Revision of scars and keloids after car accidents and other traumatic injuries, burns, and surgery is an area in which plastic surgeons are most proficient. While scars cannot be completely removed, they can be made less noticeable.
Treatment may involve monitoring progress with oral medications, steroid injections, topical applications, taping, and compression with silicone sheets. Surgical procedures such as skin grafting or Z-plasty may also be performed as needed.
Careful evaluation of the location and extent of the flaws and the degree of tightness will determine the best treatment method.
Please note that the revision of scars that do not involve functional impairment is generally considered a self-pay treatment.
Course of Operation
In most cases, local anesthesia is sufficient.
For keloids that develop after piercing, the entire lump is removed, and the cartilage and skin are carefully sutured to minimize any ear deformity. Postoperative care is crucial to prevent recurrence and achieve the best results. In some cases, electron beam radiation may be applied after surgery.
Ingrown nail / Pincer nail / Nail fungus (Onychomycosis)
We work in collaboration with an exclusive manicurist who holds a Level 1 certification to address various nail problems. In particular, for pincer nails, we have treated over 400 patients in the past eight years since our clinic opened using our unique method, the "KC Method," which combines nail plate shaving and acrylic resin fixation.
Even severe cases of pincer nails show remarkable improvement in pain relief from the day of treatment, resulting in surprisingly beautiful nails. Please note that the nail plate shaving and acrylic resin fixation method is considered a self-pay treatment.
As of February 1, 2023, treatment for pincer nails is currently on hold. We will notify you as soon as we are ready to resume.
Pincer nail treatment (KC Method: Nail Plate Abrasion + Acrylic Artificial Nail)
Outline of Operation
This method involves thinning and shaving the curved nail, and after a week, when it has become slightly flatter, reinforcing it with an artificial nail (acrylic resin) to correct it to a more normal shape.
Course of Operation
The treatment can be performed on the day of your visit without the need for additional anesthesia, and it is conducted by an exclusive manicurist. Initially, the thickened nail is carefully thinned using an electric burr. One week later, an artificial nail (acrylic resin) is applied to correct the deformation. Thereafter, the condition of the artificial nail is checked and adjusted once a month. There are no restrictions on daily activities after the procedure.
Points to Note after Operation
The duration of treatment is eight to twelve months, during which the nails grow back.
Even after the correction is completed, recurrence may occur over time, so treatment will be resumed as needed, based on the condition of the nail.
Pincer nails and nail fungus often occur together, and treating both simultaneously can yield better results. For ingrown nails, surgery is performed using a method that minimizes bleeding and postoperative pain. The procedure takes approximately thirty minutes per side under local anesthesia.
