The Great Balance
of Medicine and Beauty
Medicine / Beauty, the Harmony of Physical and Mental Well-being
Dr. Ken Arashiro, known as "Dr. Ken," serves as the chairperson.
He provides advanced and reliable surgeries and procedures employing the highly developed plastic and cosmetic surgical skills which he has cultivated through more than 35 years of experience.
And Kazuko Arashiro, known as Madame Calmy, who serves as Creative Life Designer, advocating for a life of enriched well-being.
Finding harmony in Medicine & Beauty, we guide you toward a balance of physical and mental well-being.
We strive to be your trusted partner.
The Origin of the Name
'Plastic Surgery KC'
The name 'Plastic Surgery KC' is derived from the combination
of the letter 'K' from the chairperson's name, Ken,
and the letter 'C' from Calmy, the yoga name of his wife,
who is the clinic's Creative Life Designer and also a yoga instructor.
The Inspiration Behind the Founding
of Plastic Surgery KC
In June 2007, after more than 20 years of service as a public sector surgeon, I opened the clinic.
There are two reasons why I decided to open this clinic.
-
First, I think of surgery as my lifework, and am determined to 'master the scalpel' for as long as possible in order to fulfill my calling.
As a plastic surgeon, I have spent each day deeply feeling this. When I entered my late 40s, I began to ask myself whether I could continue working at the hectic pace of a surgeon in our prefectural hospital if I wished to carry on for another 20 or 30 years. One answer came to me during my training at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in 1998, when I was 39 years old, as I observed the way American plastic surgeons worked.
During my time at UCLA, I was particularly inspired by Professor Kawamoto, who had also visited Okinawa. He managed his own clinic while being affiliated with the university and continued practicing well into his 60s, leveraging the skills and knowledge he had accumulated over the years, and adjusting his workload to match his physical condition at the time. I strongly felt that I wish to pursue this lifestyle as well. Today, I have my own clinic and continue to lead a fulfilling life as both a plastic surgeon and as a cosmetic surgeon, while also regularly participating in surgeries and conferences at the prefectural hospital.
-
Second, I wish to find a way to fulfill my calling as a surgeon while sharing the journey together with my partner.
Starting a clinic is essentially starting a business, which requires a strong business mindset and management skills in many areas. Unfortunately, I lack those skills, but fortunately, there is someone in my family who possesses them—my wife. I could not have made the decision to open the clinic without her talent and dedication. With our two children having left home, my wife and I started our life together as a couple, and I was determined to work alongside my partner to build a new chapter in our lives.
